I Look For You in the Forest

I look for you in the forest
Through a trail buried in crackling twigs and leaves
Lonely tracks from older times
Footprints I do not see
From souls whose names I shall not know
Did they find what they came here to seek
Or were they merely wandering
Among the lights, shades, and trees

The fluffy on-lookers calmly march
Paint and repaint the vast blue canvass
High above the rest of us
They see eternity and where my path leads
But they tell me not
The secret that is my life

I hope to wake you
Before what is green turns gold and yellow
But I'm not a prince
Only the son of a blacksmith
